From what I can tell, it's a great feature for previewing content, but it might be a little heavy on computer resources.

To see the preview, click the red button on the flash player, and then click the button again when it turns green. And to download the original video file, click the 'Download' button located under the player.

Megaupload has won me over....

I've been testing Megaupload for the last few days now, and I've been very impressed with the results.

Megaupload and Mediafire both have very nice flash based multi-file uploaders. Their file managers are intuitive and easy to use, and with just a click you can quickly rename, filter, and sort your files.

But what sets Megaupload above Mediafire is its functionality and features. Uploads don't stall or stop half way through, the flash uploader works in most browsers, and Megaupload even generates video previews of the clips you upload.

To see these previews, click the "View on Megavideo" link when it appears on the megaupload download page. You can see it here right under 'file size'.

Megaupload also has a really nice manager for batch uploading and resuming broken downloads called Mega Manager. Another great tool that can be used with Megaupload is the JDownloader.

Megaupload is my final choice for all future posts.

They've gone way too far this time.....

Lately I've been getting an "error" when I try to download a file from rapidshare. The "error" tells me that my IP address is already downloading a file even though I'm not downloading anything.

In a notice they say the following:

"Our system checks your IP-address in order to count the downloads. If you are getting an error message that you are already downloading while no downloads where made, then your IP is being created by a proxy-server. Proxy servers are placed by ISP's or network administrators to save IP addresses. This can lead to multiple downloads from one IP.

Only Premium Accounts can make multiple parallel downloads from one IP at the same time.

Thank you for your understanding."

I'm tired of their bullshit. Remember the impossible to read captcha that they used with the dogs and cats going through the text? Year after year they try to come up with new gimmicks to pressure people into getting premium accounts, and I'm getting sick of them trying to con me. So I'm not going to bother with their service anymore, and I don't think you should either. We deserve better.

I've done some research, and found a few promising alternatives:

With options like these, there's no reason why we need to stick with rapidshit. For the next month, I'm going to give megaupload and mediafire a try.
